AEMP

What is AEMP?

AEMP stands for the “Association of Equipment Management Professionals”. It is a non-profit, professional association that aims to represent and promote the profession of equipment management.

What else should you know?

AEMP is the leading association representing professional Equipment Managers.

Equipment Managers specialize in asset management in fleets that are majority off-highway, i.e. not trucking fleets. They are typically in construction companies, aggregate producers, waste management and government fleets.

AEMP’s mission is to continue to advocate for and spread the equipment management profession.

AEMP is known as primarily a training and education association. Their multiple professional certifications are well respected in the industry. Beyond training, AEMP has strongly advocated for the consolidation of industry standards. In 2016, this advocacy resulted in the establishment of ISO standards for construction equipment telematics, often referred to as the “AEMP API“.

AEMP typically has two major events per year:

  • Annual Conference (co-located in Las Vegas during ConExpo years)
  • Fall Technology Conference

AEMP’s CEO is currently led by Michael Battaglia, who came onboard in 2022. Previous to Michael, Donte Shannon was CEO from 2018 to 2022. Previous to 2018, Stan Orr was the CEO of the organization for over a decade and is generally thought of as a “founding father” of the organization, although he was staff and not an end user.

The association works closely with two other associations in the construction equipment ecosystem, including AED, the association representing equipment dealers, and AEM, the association representing equipment manufacturers.

Equipment Managers are the ideal users of the IronUp Platform, which allows for the “rented fleet” to be manage centrally through the equipment management team, just as the owned fleet is managed.
