Rental Call Off

Rental Call Off

What is a Rental Call Off?

A Rental Call Off is an action taken by a rental customer at the end of their rental period to alert their rental supplier that their rented asset(s) are ready for pick up.

What else should you know?

Rental Call Offs indicate the end of the rental agreement. Typically, Call Offs (as they are also known) are done via phone call.

But, there are numerous problems with relying on phone-based communications for “calling off” a rental:

  • Lack of accountability for both parties, but more risk often lies with the renter
  • Inconsistent pickup expectations, including time and/or specific location
  • Lack of inspections to protect both parties, as it is critical to identify exactly when and by whom damage occurs, should it occur
  • Even if  a Call Off is made, the renter is unsure when the asset may be picked up. This puts the renter in a situation where they may have to resource extra “watching” of the rental to prevent any damage, or worse, by third parties

Another way to describe a Rental Call off is a “Rental Pick Up”.
