The Heavy – Just Launched. But What is It?

The next generation data and insights business for the equipment industry is here. Great...but what the heck does that mean?

The Heavy has launched (but in our BETA period). We’re a new kind of information source in the equipment industry.

In this article we’ll aim to explain what The Heavy is, why we started and answer questions we think you, and many others, will most likely have.

What is The Heavy?

We’re a membership information site that delivers weekly-ish insights, via email, directly to your inbox. We’re part analyst insights (we mine the data for you), part raw database (for the especially curious) and part rankings (making performance transparent).

Think of us as the “Forrester Research” for the equipment industry – we gather the hard-to-find data, analyze it and share what matters most, making sure you’re easily informed of major trends.

And we have been in the equipment intelligence space for a long time. Our founder, Garrett Schemmel, previously led EquipmentWatch for nearly 10 years, transforming it from a small “book” business into the leading equipment pricing and cost intelligence platform for thousands of companies.

But most importantly, you won’t find anything like The Heavy, anywhere. Our unique data, insights and business model allows us to seek truth as well as present unbiased insights to the community.

How should I think about ROI?

The Heavy is successful for you when you:

  • Spend less time researching existing decisions
  • Make decisions faster
  • Make decisions more confidently

The value of information/intelligence products, like The Heavy, are most often felt when you ask yourself – what would I do without it?

Who is The Heavy for?

The Heavy intentionally focuses on the most broadly impacting data and insights in the equipment industry, like OEM production trends, Dealer service capabilities – insights that can be used by manufacturers, dealers and end users of equipment.

Are you constantly looking to improve in your role? Are you hungry for data, insights that help increase decision confidence? Then The Heavy’s a good addition to your toolkit.

If any of the segments below describes you, you’re an ideal member:

How will The Heavy change in the future?

The Heavy will evolve and grow.

As this was written, we are in our “BETA” stage, which means some features are intentionally smaller in scope and data coverage more limited. We are looking feedback, from you, to invest and scale in what you like best.

Longer term, look for more data sets; more types of insights – a general expansion of all of our offerings. This will be led by new signals, new trends impacting the equipment industry.
