What is the IEDA?

The IEDA, or the Independent Equipment Dealers Association, is a network of smaller construction equipment dealers.

What else should you know?

The Independent Equipment Dealer Association is composed smaller dealers. Dealers connected to the large distributors – Caterpillar and Komatsu, for example – typically are not IEDA members, due to their existing OEM relationships.

How many members are there in the IEDA?

IEDA is a global association, so let’s count their members by continent:

  • North America: 150+ (Canada, USA)
  • Europe: 8 (England, France, Germany, Italy and Netherlands)
  • Australia: 5
  • South America: 1 (Chile)

Overall, member count is in the 175-200 range.

What other initiatives does the IEDA support?

As their members’ business model is primarily focus on used equipment, the IEDA’s supporting initiatives mirror this interest, which include:

  • Right to Repair
  • Dealer Training
  • Tax Reductions

Does the IEDA have events?

They do – 2 in fact. They have an annual meeting, often co-located with the Ritchie Bros winter auctions, located in Orlando. There is also a mid-year meeting, which moves locations.

Who is the Executive Director of IEDA?

At the time of this writing, David Gordon, is the Executive Director of IEDA. David previously spent 20+ years at AED, the Association of Equipment Distributors.
